Compassion to Forgive!
Every person, man and woman, is a creature created by God, in His image and likeness, made to love and be loved.
The Bible teaches us in 1 John 4:7-9 that God is love:
"Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. But God showed his love for us by sending his one and only Son into the world, so that we might have eternal life through him."
Let's imagine for a moment two mothers holding their newborn child in their arms. A beautiful creature, full of innocence, fragile, inspiring us to protect them and to do our best for them, to give them all our true love.
Years pass, and those two children grow up: one of them is now, sadly, a dangerous criminal, and the other is a devout person consecrated to God. What opposite destinies for them both! The following question arises: Has the person who is now going astray lost their original nature of love? No! Have they lost God's love for them? Of course not; God simply does not love the sin they are committing and desires that they repent of their error, return to Him, and return to their original path of divine love. This is precisely the essence of God's redemptive plan through Christ. It is in this same spirit that Jesus invites us all to be compassionate toward those who have strayed from God's ways, reminding us that there is always hope for those who seek to change. Therefore, if we are affected by their wrongdoing, let us learn to forgive, just as God forgives each of us when we make mistakes. Let us pray for them, that they may accept the change offered by Jesus Christ, who guides them through the Holy Spirit (in peace, love, kindness, joy, etc.), and also for ourselves, that God may open our minds and hearts to forgive and help all those who need to redirect their lives.
God's love is unconditional:
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life." (John 3:16)
So, whenever you see someone going astray, remember the example of the two children, forgive them, have compassion on them, and help them rediscover the true love of God and Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior.
